Ahead of the first official trailer for the new Ghostbusters movie fans where teased with photos and plot details for the new movie. Until now the reboot Ghostbusters movie has been known as Ghostbusters 2020. The official title of the new film is Ghostbusters: Afterlife and is a direct sequel to the original 1984 film

News on Ghosterbusters:Afterlife broke on a couple different platforms. The news, look, and vibe seems to have fans interested in the new Ghostbusters film.

On Friday, the Ghostbusters official Twitter account released a posted of the Ecto-1 screaming through a field out in the Midwest somewhere. With the caption #Ghostbusters arriving summer 2020. Trailer Monday. Letting fans know that their first look of Director Jason Reitman Ghostbusters is a only couple of days away.

In the current issue of Vanity Fair we are able to see the first images of from Afterlife. With Paul Rudd’s Mr. Grooberson front and center holding a containment trap.

Also, Vanity Fair article introduces us to some of the other key characters from the movie Afterlife. We have Paul Rudd playing summer school teacher Mr.Grooberson. Carrie Coon playing Callie’s mom. Callie’s science-loving daughter Phoebe is played by McKenna Grace. Phoebe’s mechanically inclined brother Trevor is played by Finn Wolfhard.

Afterlife is a direct sequel to the original 1984 Ghostbusters movie. The story revolves around Callie and Phoebe packing up everything moving to Oklahoma after inheriting property from a father she didn’t know. As, the family arrives to the Oklahoma farm, they begin to discover their connection to their ghostbuster heritage. When searching the farm Trevor finds the collapsing farmhouse and the beat up Ecto-1. That was teased at a year ago in a promotional photo.

In the house Phoebe finds a device that reads psychokinetic energy. (A safe theory is that the device is a PKE reader. Just my theory though.) She is interested in items found around her new home, town, and strange rumblings from a near by mine. Phoebe and her classmate investigate near the dangerous and abandoned mine.

Trevor and Phoebe know little about the events of the original Ghostbusters events. So, all this is a mystery being unwrapped before their eyes. Along the way they are finding out about a grandfather they didn’t know and more about their unknown Ghostbuster lineage. That is where Mr. Grooberson played by Paul Rudd comes into play. He is the local subject matter expert on the Manhattan Crossrip aka the original events of the Ghostbusters film. To help Trevor and Phoebe fill in the blanks.

The move was written by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan. Jason Reitman is Ivan Reitman son, the director of the original Ghostbusters movie. So, the movie seems to be in good hands.

Many from the original Ghostbusters cast are reprising their roles so we will be seeing Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Winston Zedde (Erine Hudson), Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver), and Annie Potts ( Janine Melintz). Unfortunately, Harold Ramis dead in 2014 and is not in the movie. But, I believe it a fitting tribute will be added.

That’s all the for news for the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife. We get our first trailer on Monday and a new Ghostbusters adventure summer of 2020.
