Editor Note: As, information is update. I will update with another article.

Early morning in Iraq ballistic missiles where launched against U.S. Forces. Iran fired more than a dozen ballistic missiles at two military bases housing U.S. troops. Some of those ballistic missiles bombarded Al-Asad military installation located in western Iraq. The military installation houses about 1,500 U.S. and coalition forces.  While the other missiles bombarded Ebril military installation.

This is Iran’s retaliation for Gen. Solemani’s death last week. Solemani was killed by an U.S. air strike at the Baghdad airport.

Iranian state TV report stated the operation was called “Martyr Soleimani,” and was launched by the Aerospace division of the Iran Revolutionary Guard, which runs Iran’s missile program.

The Defense Department said there was no question about the source of  the ballistic missiles.

“It is clear that these missiles were launched from Iran and targeted at least two Iraqi military bases hosting U.S. military and coalition personnel,” in a statement released by the Pentagon.

“The President has been briefed and is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team,” White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said.

This has been a week of escalation between the two powers. From the attempted siege of the U.S. Embassy, to the killing of Gen. Solemani, and the ballistic missile attack by Iran.

The atmosphere is heated and tensions are palpable. The U.S. must navigate this retaliation delicately, so it doesn’t lead to further escalation between U.S. and Iran.
