Today, Q, LLC received a cease and desist letter from the ATF regarding the Honey Badger pistol. In that letter the ATF explains that the Honey Badger pistol by Q is consider a short barrel rifle (SBR) by ATF and is regulated under National Firearms Act. Meaning you would need a to complete a ATF Form 1 to own a Honey Badger in its current configuration.

In response to the cease and desist letter from the ATF regarding the Q Honey Badger pistol, Q has ceased all production of the Honey Badger pistol. Also, the company has sent a comprehensive letter to the ATF and DOJ disagreeing with the classification of the Honey Badger pistol as an SBR (short barreled rifle).

Cease and Desist Letter from the ATF

Additionally, Q is seeking guidance on how to address the Honey Badger pistol that are currently in circulation to make sure customers who own the rifle are in compliance. The letter also seeks guidance on what Q needs to do to stay in compliance with the ATF ruling in regards to its distribution chain.

For the moment, Q encourages owners of the Honey Badger pistol to be proactive to remain in compliance or Federal Law.

Options To Stay Compliant Under The ATF Ruling

First, Q suggests removing the upper receiver from the lower receiver and putting the upper on a AR pistol lower or a Form 1 SBR lower.

Second, remove the Honey Badger upper receiver again and transfer possession of the upper receiver to someone who can legal possess it. Then, from there submit for a ATF Form 1 to have the lower receiver registered as an SBR.

Q mentions failure to comply with either option 1 or option 2 will result in a maximum fine of $10,000 or up to 10 years in prison.
