The Department of Defense has selected FN And Colt To Compete For Foreign Military Contracts to Produce M16A4s
Recently, the DoD has solicited both FN and Colt to compete for foreign military contracts to produce M16A4s. The DoD foreign contract is worth up to $383 million dollars. The M16A4s would be produced for U.S. Allied Nations such as Iraq, Lebanon, and Nepal. Estimated completion date for the foreign contract is April 2025.
The DoD is phasing our the Mk13 bolt action rifle and replaced with an semi-automatic AR-10 platform chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. With the change in Weapon platform and ammunition the DoD is looking for a new ammunition provider. Hornday was awarded the contact to produce ammo for the new AR-10 chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor.

L3 Harris & Leupold Awarded OTA To Provide Prototypes For The Next Generation Squad Weapon Fire Control Program
Last week, Vortex Optics announced that US Army had solicited the company to produce a prototype optic for the Next Generation Squad Weapon Fire Control Program (NGSW-FC). Now, L3 Harris Technologies and Leupold have been awarded an contract in partnership for the OTA by the US Army for the NGSW-FC also.
